The Prototype Obu (試製桜武 Shisaku Oubu) is a prototype Spiricle Fighter that debuted in Sakura Wars (2019). It is currently piloted by Sakura Amamiya.
Background[]
The "Obu" is the first Spiricle Fighter co-designed by the Imperial Combat Revue and Kanzaki Heavy Industries, and as its name implies, it is the "only" fighter prototype to exist. This is due to in exchange for its superior specifications is the high consumption of spiritual power needed to operate the unit to maximum performance, thus straining its pilot. Thus prior to the events of Sakura Wars (2019), nobody in the past Imperial Combat Revue, not even Sakura Shinguji herself could meet its operational criteria, only to meet uncontrollable results and thus was left abandoned underneath in the Grand Imperial Theatre after the Revue's downfall in the Great Demon War.
In 1940, the new ICR Chief engineer Reiji Shiba discovered the unit and made self-adjustments in his free time. But the new commander-in-chief Sumire Kanzaki caught on and gave the unit to Sakura Amamiya after her Type-3 Koubu and pre-completed Mugen were destroyed by Yasha. Since then, it became Sakura's main unit as her spiritual levels meet the operational requirements after her friends revived her disheartened spirit.
In 1941, during the final battle opposing the Flower Division and Valery Kaminski, Sakura used her Prototype Obu until they were joined by Klara M. Ruzhkova in her brand new Tenjin. The Tenjin, which was created to fuse with the Prototype Obu, is joined with the Prototype to increase Sakura and Klara's powers. Both girls work in unison to defeat Kaminski's monstrous form and end his evil scheme for good.
