Yuichi Kayama (加山 雄一, Kayama Yūichi) is the captain of the Teikoku Kagekidan's Tsukigumi, as well Ichiro Ogami's old and best friend.

Appearance

Kayama wears his trademark white outfit, and also is always alongside with his guitar. Most of times when he appears, is always at front of some painture of a beach.

Personality

Unlike Ogami, who is hotblooded and determined, Kayama is calm, intelligent and analytic. Kayama also has a spontaneous and funny personality being always optimistic and playing with his guitar.

Also, unlike his best friend, Kayama has better experience with women, and most of times, he shares some advices about flirting them, much for Ogami's disgrace and chagrin(Especially considering major part of these advices involves some pervert-like things)

But as a captain of the Moon Division, Kayama is extremely intelligent and fast, with incredibly ninja-like abilities, being serious valuable ally and with excellent infiltrating skills.

Kayama is fond of beaches, which always appears behind him when he appears to advice Ogami in certain moments.

In the games

Sakura Taisen 2

Kayama debuted in the second game as the one who gaves enthusiastic words of wisdom to Ogami.

Sakura Taisen 3

At some point, Kayama appears in Paris to help Ogami and the Paris Squad.

Sakura Taisen 4

Just like the past games, Kayama shares words of wisdom to his best friend, and always supports him, staying in Japan or going to Paris(Depending of Ogami's love interest choice)

In the manga

In Ikku Masa's mangá, most of the backstory of Kayama was included. Kayama and Ogami are old friends since the army training times, and sometimes reports to Yoneda about the enemies locations or plans. He is still the captain of the Moon Division. Since the mangá tells the events of the first game, Kayama does not interact with Ogami after the latter was being assigned to Yoneda's army, but in fact he, indirectly, wishes the best things to Ogami and Sakura.
